Nerve pain (Neuropathic pain)

Ever felt a pain that’s more like a strange fizzing, shooting, or electric sensation? That could be nerve pain! It happens when the body’s wiring gets a bit scrambled, sending confusing signals that can be baffling and intense. It’s a tricky one that affects a surprising number of people and often needs a different approach to typical pain.

Symptoms

  • Burning, stabbing, or shooting feelings that seem to come out of nowhere.

  • Tingling and numbness, like “pins and needles.”

  • Skin that feels incredibly sensitive to even the lightest touch.

  • Sudden, sharp jolts that feel like a tiny electric shock.

If you are suffering from any of these symptoms, you may be suffering from arthritis. Please speak with your GP to find out more.

Treatment Options

The goal is to calm down those overactive nerves. This is often done with specific medications like amitriptyline, duloxetine, or gabapentin. When these don't provide enough relief, CBPMs can be a great help. Cannabinoids such as THC and CBD can soothe hyper-excitable nerve signals, effectively turning down the volume on those faulty pain messages.
