Epilepsy is a condition that causes recurring seizures - like small electrical storms in the brain. It affects over 600,000 people in the UK. Living with seizures can be unsettling, but effective treatments exist to help calm the storm and restore confidence.
Symptoms
Repeated seizures or “fits.”
Feeling confused or disoriented after an episode.
Temporary loss of awareness or “zoning out.”
Involuntary muscle twitching or jerking.
If you are suffering from any of these symptoms, you may be suffering from arthritis. Please speak with your GP to find out more.
Treatment Options
The mainstay of treatment is anti-epileptic medication that stabilises electrical activity in the brain. For some people - especially those with drug-resistant forms of epilepsy - CBPMs have shown remarkable promise. The cannabinoid CBD has proven anti-convulsant properties and is the key ingredient in a licensed medicine (Epidyolex®) used for rare childhood epilepsies.
Under specialist care, CBD-rich formulations can reduce both the frequency and severity of seizures, while trace levels of THC may complement symptom control and improve sleep and anxiety between episodes.
